Fairfax StreetA spokesman said that crews in Warwickshire reported that some major roads were reduced to two tracks in the snow earlier.
Some schools are closed and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance is grounded.
A spokesman said crews were worried they could not see in front of them.
"Adequate grit"The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning, with the snow expected to turn to sleet and then freezing overnight, causing more dangerous conditions on Thursday.
Warwickshire County Council said its gritters had been out overnight and went back out in the morning.
"We have adequate grit supplies to deal with this latest snowfall, and we are expecting another delivery of salt today," a spokesman said.
The wintry weather is expected to ease over the weekend.
Another snowy spell is forecast for next Monday.
