A thief caught repeatedly breaking into cars and stealing sat navs in Coventry has been jailed for 15 weeks. The 33 year-old man from Foleshill was arrested on 27 July after a call from a concerned resident who noticed him breaking into a neighbour's car.
Officers later recovered items which the man had tried to discard before he was arrested.
Inspector Pervez Mohammed, from Coventry Police, said: "This arrest was the result of officers searching and containing an area minutes after a concerned call from a resident."
"The man was already wanted for other offences and for failure to attend court. We would urge anybody who suspects a crime taking place, to call us.
"We would like to remind people to lock windows and doors when leaving their vehicles and not to leave anything on display."
Officers are asking the public to register their possessions including sat navs so owners can be traced when items are recovered.
