Another Leamington pub is soon to close its doors due to lack of profitability.

Staff at the Green Man in Tachbrook Street will take their final orders on August 23, after which the building will be put up for sale.

Like the Red House pub in Radford Road, which closed this month, the Green Man enjoyed a reputation for a well-kept pint, and had appeared in the Campaign for Real Ale’s Good Beer Guide.

The Courier contacted licensee Lynn Unitt, but she did not wish to comment.

A spokeswoman for the Charles Wells Pub Company, which owns the pub, said: “We undertake a regular review of our estate as we have a responsbility to make sure that our pubs are realistically profitable. We feel that this one does not meet those criteria.

“If the community feels strongly, there is always the option of taking it over as a community venture.”
