A communtiy cafe has been awarded top marks for its food hygiene standards.

Moat House Cafe, in Wood End, was awarded a level five in the new rating scheme after a visit from the council’s food safety team.

The cafe was set up as a social enterprise by the Coventry New Deal for Communities programme and is now run by the Moat House Community Trust.

Ann Hornsby, cafe supervisor, said: “We were over the moon when we were told that we had been awarded a level five by the Food Safety team.

“Many of our customers either live or work in the local area so it’s great to be able to say we have the best standards.”
