Gotye, Kimbra rise to singles No.1

Gotye and Kimbra have surged to the top of the UK singles chart with their sleeper hit 'Somebody That I Used To Know'.



The track, which debuted on the ranking six weeks ago and previously finished at three, beat midweek number one and last Sunday's chart-topper 'Titanium' from David Guetta and Sia by just 2,000 copies.

will.i.am returns to the chart at three with his Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger team-up 'T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)', which marks the Rolling Stones frontman's first appearance in the Top 10 for almost three decades.

The movers and new entries at the top of the list push last week's runner-up 'Alone Again' by Alyssa Reid down to fifth place.

'Wild Ones' from Flo Rida and Sia, 'Twilight' by Cover Drive, Rizzle Kicks song 'Mama Do The Hump' and Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die' slip one spot each to fill out the Top 10.

Elsewhere, David Guetta makes a second appearance in the top 20 with Nicki Minaj collaboration 'Turn Me On', up to 11 from last Sunday's 33, as does Lana Del Rey, who is up four to 13 with 'Video Games' in its 17th week on the chart.

At the back end of the upper digits, Flo Rida's 'Good Feeling' and Labrinth's Tinie Tempah team-up 'Earthquake' are down five apiece to 17 and 19, as 'Kiss The Stars' by Pixie Lott settles in between them at 18 after falling seven.

Meanwhile, Madonna's 'Give Me All Your Luvin' - which also features Nicki Minaj and MIA - enters at 37 after just five days on sale. Free downloads of the track, made available to fans who preordered her 12th studio album MDNA, were controversially discounted earlier this week.

The late Whitney Houston, who passed away yesterday (February 11) at the age of 48, is expected to dominate the UK singles and album charts next Sunday.
