Woman laundry assistant threatened and robbed in Atherstone

Postby dutchman » Wed Jan 18, 2012 6:25 pm

A woman laundry assistant was threatened with a meat cleaver and assaulted by a thief who got away with £5 in small change in Atherstone.

He walked into the A Star Laundry and Ironing Service in Church Street, Atherstone, and demanded money.

When the woman said she didn’t keep any on the premises, she was dragged to the till by her hair.

The man grabbed some cash and ran away, with the woman chasing him along Church Street, Derby Lane, Market Square, Long Street, and onto Coleshill Road.

The robbery was at 4.50pm on Monday and police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the man running away from the laundry or anyone who thinks they know who he is.

He is described as white, in his 20s with a medium build. He was wearing a grey beanie hat and scarf covering his face and a grey/green parka coat.
