'Coronation Street' dominates Monday with Carla's strife

Coronation Street just managed to outgun EastEnders again in the Monday evening ratings battle, according to overnight audience data.

ITV1's Coronation Street averaged 8.54m (37.7%) from 7.30pm and 109k (0.4%) on +1, as Carla's recovery suffered another setback. Stella's juggling act confiding in Carla while also trying to support the factory boss was seen by 8.7m (35.6%) from 8.30pm and 139k (0.6%) on +1.

EastEnders appealed to 8.49m (34.8%) on BBC One from 8pm, as Yusef got a shock when he met up with Amira. A further 563k (2.9%) caught BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.

On Emmerdale, 6.85m (32.5%) tuned in on ITV1 from 7pm as things between Marlon and Laurel changed forever.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks delighted 1.2m (6%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm, before E4's first look at the next episode grabbed 489k (2.3%).

Doctors averaged 1.69m (23.6%) for BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours had 704k (9.7%) on Channel 5. Neighbours also fetched 1.18m (7.6%) for its repeat from 5.30pm.

Home and Away managed 946k (5.2%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm, before 5*'s first look at the next episode pulled in 491k (2.5%).
