Coventry woman dies after Hillfields collision

A 25-year-old woman from Coventry has died after being hit by a car.

The woman was hit by a black Vauxhall Astra in Catherine Street, Hillfields, at about 23:10 BST on Friday.

West Midlands Police have not released her identity yet but said she died shortly after being taken to Walsgrave Hospital.

The 20-year-old Astra driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He was not hurt in the crash and is being held in custody.

Driver bailed over death of Coventry woman

A driver arrested over the death of a pedestrian in Coventry has been released on police bail.

Kirsty Rattigan, 25, from Hillfields, Coventry, was struck by a black Vauxhall Astra in Catherine Street in the city on Friday night.

She was pronounced dead at University Hospital in Coventry.

West Midlands Police said the 20-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He was not injured in the collision.

Ms Rattigan was struck near to Catherine Street's junction with Berry Street and Paynes Lane at about 23:10 BST.

Family tributes paid to crash victim

The family of a Coventry woman killed in a car crash have called her a “vibrant, shining star”…

Kirsty Rattigan – who was 25 and from Hillfields – died following a collision with a car late on Friday night in Catherine Street.

A 20-year-old man – who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving – has been released on bail.

Kirsty’s family have paid tribue to her:

“We are all devastated by the loss of Kirsty, a loving granddaughter, daughter, sister, aunty, niece and cousin.

“Kirsty was a vibrant shining star who was loved and liked by many. Kirsty always showed her family how much we meant to her.

“We are a very close family. Kirsty was very special to us, she was a gifted girl and a very talented artist, she loved to draw.

“Most of all she was a very dedicated aunty to all her nieces and nephews. Kirsty was a generous, selfless person who always put her family first. Kirsty being taken away from us so suddenly and tragically has left a massive hole in all our hearts.”
