Tuesday ratings: PJ Harvey's Mercury Prize win seen by 620k

PJ Harvey's win at the Mercury Prize was watched by 620k on Tuesday evening, while ITV1's coverage of England versus Wales scored with 6.5m, overnight data has revealed.

Mercury Prize 2011, featuring Polly Jean Harvey's triumph for her album Let England Shake, averaged 620k (3.1%) for BBC Two from 10pm.

Earlier, England's victory against Wales in the Euro 2012 qualifying game was seen by a healthy 6.52m (27.2%) on ITV1 between 7pm and 10pm.

BBC One's Holby City entertained 4.65m (18.3%) in the 8pm hour, and Catch Me If You Can: Armed Robbers mustered 3.29m (13.4%) from 9pm. The Twins Of The Twin Towers captivated 2.07m (17%) from 10.45pm.

Escape To The Country mustered 1.88m (8.6%) on BBC Two in the 7pm hour, before The Great British Bakeoff served up 3.12m (12.3%) in the 8pm slot. Adopting Abroad: Saira's Story appealed to 1.29m (5.2%) from 9pm.

Inside Nature's Giants attracted 1.04m (4.1%) to Channel 4 from 8pm and 130k (0.5%) on +1. Observation documentary Seven Dwarves averaged 1.83m (7.5%) in the 9pm hour, and 297k (1.6%) an hour later, before new Shameless continued with 1.45m (8.1%) from 10pm and 193k (2.1%) on timeshift.

Channel 5's Revealed pulled in 742k (2.9%) in the 8pm hour. CSI: Miami investigated 1.77m (7.2%) from 9pm, and Celebrity Big Brother entertained 2m (10.7%) in the 10pm slot.

Overall, ITV1 won primetime with 22.9% (+1: 0.2%), ahead of BBC One's 19.4%. BBC Two came next with 7.7%, followed by Channel 4's 5.5% (+1: 0.7%) and Channel 5's 5.1%.

Elsewhere, Francesco's Italy: From Top To Toe averaged 459k (1.8%) for BBC Four in the 8pm hour. Don't Tell The Bride returned to BBC Three with 970k (4%) from 9pm.
