The vehicles collided, leaving the van on its side, at about 14:30 BST, ambulance crews said.

The southbound carriageway was shut between junction 2, the M69 at Coventry, and junction 19 of the M1 at the Catthorpe Interchange, until about 18:30 BST.

Two men were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said a third man was assessed and discharged at the scene.

Drivers were warned of further delays after another collision on M6 northbound between junctions 8 and 9.

Three people were taken to hospital after a lorry, box van and a car collided at about 16:30 BST.
