X Factor hopeful Kitty Brucknell reportedly worked as a 'honeytrap' girl for a private detective agency.

The singer divided opinions with her performance of Lady GaGa's 'The Edge of Glory' when she featured in Saturday night's episode of the ITV1 competition. According to The Sun, one of the men caught out by Brucknell identified her when watching the programme.

The 26-year-old was apparently paid up to £2,000, as suspicious women seek to test their male partners.

Dalbir Virdee was caught when his ex-wife Puishpinda Matharu received photographs of him with Brucknell.

"She's a deceitful liar and tried to ruin my life," the 37-year-old told the paper. "I got approached on Facebook by a girl calling herself Kim, who said she thought I was good looking."

Recalling how they met in a central London bar, Virdee claimed that he "had a feeling" it was a set up.

"We had champagne, which she spilled down her front. I realised it was a ploy to get me to rub it off her," he said. "She kept trying to sit very close to me and put her head on my shoulder.

"She said she felt unwell and did this sort of pretend swoon. When I leaned over to help her, she quickly planted a kiss on my mouth. She was very flirtatious and kept trying to get me in positions where I would touch her. She made out she was a model but I could tell she wasn't."

Virdee revealed that Brucknell had left their second date under the pretence of going to buy some cigarettes.

"When I saw X Factor I knew it was the same woman by her mannerisms," he added.

Brucknell and X Factor both declined to respond to the paper.
