Saturday ratings: John Bishop continues to pull in punters

Comedian John Bishop lured solid audiences for BBC One and BBC Three last night, according to the latest overnight data.



After John Bishop's Britain amused 4.01m (19.5%) for BBC One at 9.30pm, 1.1m (6%) flocked to BBC Three for more of Bishop's stand-up on Live At The Apollo between 10pm and 10.45pm.

Meanwhile, Ronnie Corbett's Comedy Britain tumbled to 2.42m (11.8%) in the 9pm hour, before adding 154k on ITV1 +1.

Casualty pulled in 5.62m (26.4%) for BBC One between 8.35pm and 9.30pm for its 26th series opener titled 'Partners', making the medical drama the most-watched broadcast of the night.

However, the margin was tiny, as The National Lottery: In It To Win It entertained 5.58m (26.5%), while ITV1's screening of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix averaged 5.17m (26%) between 6.30pm and 9pm (+1: 582k).

Highlights of England's win over India in the cricket kicked off a successful night for Channel 5, scoring 1.07m (5.4%) in the 7pm hour. Although the channel's audience dipped to 692k (3.2%) for a repeat of NCIS, 1.11m (5.4%) and 1.12m (6.2%) tuned in for CSI: Miami and Law & Order: SVU at 9pm and 10pm.

Over on BBC Two, the evening began fairly respectably with Flog It! and Dad's Army grabbing 1.47m (7.7%) and 1.82m (7.9%) from 7pm. However, Imagine... could only muster 605k (2.8%) at 8pm, and coverage of the Proms enthralled just 506k (2.7%) from 9pm.

Channel 4's night was even worse, as its riot debate programme crashed with 673k (3.4%) at 7pm (+1: 105k), after which Streetdance logged 731k (3.4%) in the 8pm hour (+1: 197k) and 642k (3.3%) watched Exit Through The Gift Shop.

BBC One led the way in primetime with 24.5%, ahead of ITV1's 18% (+1: 2.1%), Channel 5's 4.9%, BBC Two's 4.1% and Channel 4's 3.3% (+1: 0.7%).
