A dozen caravans have finally left Coventry’s Charterhouse Fields, days before a judge was going to decide whether to evict them.
Families drove onto the land in Whitley a fortnight ago, with others setting up an illegal camp on the Shrubberies just off Kenilworth Road.
They left the area over the weekend.
Coventry council was tomorrow due to go to a county court to ask a judge for an order to evict the group on Charterhouse, with police on standby.
The council and people living near the Shrubberies have now cleared rubbish, excrement and felled trees left there.
Local people have also set up a petition calling for posts to be put around the land so that no-one else can drive onto it without permission.
