'Coronation Street' retains the Monday ratings crown

Carla's romantic move on Peter helped Coronation Street retain the Monday evening ratings crown, according to overnight audience data.

ITV1's flagship soap averaged 8.93m (40.3%) from 7.30pm and 105k (0.4%) on +1 as Carla pursued Peter after Leanne threw him out. Peter's decision over what to do about Leanne and Carla was watched by 8.95m (37.6%) from 8.30pm and 139k (0.6%) on timeshift.

EastEnders appealed to 8.54m (36.3%) on BBC One from 8pm, as Lydia's son Norman arrived at Janine's party to make an announcement. A further 755k (3.7%) caught BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.

On Emmerdale, 7.3m (36.2%) tuned in on ITV1 from 7pm, as Amy was unnerved when old acquaintance Jared warned her that it's payback time.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks managed 1.31m (6.8%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm, before E4's first look at the next episode pulled in 571k (2.8%).

Earlier, Doctors had 1.82m (23.5%) on BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours entertained 764k (9.9%) on Channel 5. The Aussie soap's repeat screening fetched 1.22m (8.3%) from 5.30pm.

Home and Away took 861k (4.8%) on Channel 5 from 6pm, before 5*'s first look at the next episode entertained 606k (3.1%) from 6.30pm.
