Coventry City are getting a new fitness coach as Andy O’Boyle has landed a job at Liverpool.

And although the Belfast-born instructor’s departure after three years with the Sky Blues comes as a disappointment, manager Andy Thorn has been quick to find a possible replacement with a wealth of experience.

Former head of sports medicine at Everton, Mick Rathbone, is joining the club on a trial basis from Monday and Thorn hopes the 52-year-old will fit in straight away.

“I worked with Mick at Everton where he was very successful and went to the Champions League, so he has a wealth of experience and he’ll be coming in for three of four weeks to take that side of things over,”
revealed the City boss.

“He’s very, very good and left Everton to start his own sports fitness consultancy business and all the top Premiership players go to him in the close season.
