Bethany Rose, Lee B miss out on 'SYTYCD' final

Bethany Rose Harrison and Lee Bridgman have been eliminated in tonight's So You Think You Can Dance semi-final.



The pair missed out on a place in next week's grand final after viewers rejected their joint cha cha cha routine, leaving them in the danger zone with Katie Love and Luke Jackson.

After the solo showdown, head judge Nigel Lythgoe pulled the girls forward and confessed that he personally would have liked to see them both in the final over their rival Kirsty Swain.

However, accepting that the competition aimed to find "Britain's favourite dancer" and not necessarily its best, he turned to Love and said: "You know how I feel about Bethany, I think she's absolutely fabulous. But tonight I changed my vote and Bethany, you will be leaving us."

Her fate confirmed, Harrison told host Cat Deeley: "I think everybody knows how strongly I felt about this competition and it has really made my dream come true."

The show concluded with Lythgoe addressing Bridgman and Jackson to reveal that he, Arlene Phillips, Louise Redknapp and Sisco Gomez had been unanimous in their decision.

Complimenting them both for being "unique dancers", he finally stated that Bridgman would be given the axe.

Speaking after the result, Bridgman expressed hope that appearing on So You Think You Can Dance would make people more accepting of his unconventionally feminine character and sense of style.

"I came in this competition to show that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover," he said.

Love and Jackson will compete against Swain and Matt Flint in the So You Think You Can Dance final next Saturday at 7.15pm on BBC One.
