Singer McDowall was sent through to Saturday's finale after topping tonight's public vote, while comedy dancer Hall and quirky singer Edward Reid earned enough votes to make the top three.

When deciding who would join McDowall on Saturday, Hasselhoff said that he felt Reid was the more creative act between the two.

"I think Edward has a long career," Hasselhoff explained. "I think you have a fantastic voice and you are ready to break out and be a star."

McIntyre admitted that he was struggling to decide because of the similarity between the acts, but eventually decide to vote for Hall.

Holden also chose to send the Glaswegian drama teacher home, admitting that she had been more entertained by Hall's dance routine.

Cowell was once again forced to cast the deciding vote, and wasted no time in choosing tonight's second winner.

"I'm going to go with what I think the public wants, and forgive me, it's Steven," Cowell added, to shock from the audience.

Tonight's result also means that singer Jessica Hobson, canine double act Mexican Mayhem, troupes Out of the Blue and Dance Angels, and artist Nathan Wyburn have all been sent home from the competition.

Britain's Got Talent will continue with the fifth semi-final show tomorrow on ITV1 at 7.30pm.
