A lorry driver who admitted causing the death of a man by careless driving on the M25 in Essex has been sentenced to nine months in prison.
Dawid Raszkowski, 24, from Spalding, Lincolnshire, crashed into the back of a car being driven by Ian Roberts, 63, near Navestock on 22 October 2009.
Mr Roberts, from Exhall near Coventry, was crushed into a second HGV.
Raszkowski was also disqualified from driving for two years when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court.
Speaking after the sentencing, Insp Scott Egerton from Essex Police said: "This is a tragic case which cut short the life of Mr Roberts who was simply driving home after work.
"Although Raszkowski pleaded guilty at the first available opportunity, and has been punished for his crime, nothing can ever make up for the loss the family, friends and loved ones of Mr Roberts have and will continue to suffer, and we extend our sympathies to them."
