Mock flooding exercises are taking place in Warwickshire to see how the county would respond to an emergency.

The week-long tests will assess the county's planning and response to surface water, reservoir, river and coastal flooding.

Local authorities will work with the Environment Agency, police and fire and rescue service.

One in six properties is at risk of flooding in England and Wales, Warwickshire County Council said.

"During the week we will be working with district and parish councils to help them test their emergency flooding procedures," a spokesman explained.

"In addition we will also be raising awareness in local communities to help them start preparing before a flood happens.

"Key information will include preparing a personal flood plan, knowing how to turn off gas, electricity and water main supplies and knowing the flood warning codes."
