The council in Coventry has agreed to sell off land so that Tesco can extend one of its biggest stores in the city.
The supermarket giant was given permission early last year to knock down its current store in Cannon Park and replace it with a bigger site.
But the company wanted to extend onto land that was part of a free hold owned by the council.
A meeting today decided to allow the company to buy it – generating hundreds of thousands of pounds of revenue for the council.
Extra shops will also go up, as well as flats.
It’s thought the project could create up to 250 jobs – there’s no word yet on when the work will start.
