Mature student Matthew Cooley has lived in the area for two years, but says his enjoyment of living there is blighted by the graffiti-covered alleyway.

The 36-year-old lives in Westwood Road, which adjoins the alley, and he says it is always daubed with unsightly graffiti and littered with cans of beer.

He complains that it makes affluent Earlsdon look scruffy.

Mr Cooley said: “I’ve lived in other areas of Coventry before moving here and this is the worst eyesore I’ve ever seen.”

He claims he and numerous other residents have written letters of complaint to the council over the past month in a bid for it to be cleaned up, but are disappointed no action has not been taken.

He said: “Whenever the graffiti is cleaned up, the graffiti artists come back and redo it in marker pen.

That is hardly the 'affluent' part of Earlsdon! It wouldn't surprise me if Cllr Andrews 'engineered' this story just to get his name in the paper again. He seems obsessed with appearing in the Crapograph on an almost daily basis. :clown:
