A crackdown on "incorrect" footwear at a Coventry school saw dozens of pupils sent home today.
Children filed out of Cardinal Newman School in Kerseley and along Sandpits Lane clutching letters after being ordered to change.
Furious parents contacted the Telegraph to complain there children were left to "roam the streets". The school said pupils and parents had been given repeated warnings over the dress code clamp down.
It comes three days after an announcement in the school’s online newsletter warning pupils would be ordered to go home.
A notice read: "Parents - please note any students wearing boots or incorrect footwear will be sent home to change from Monday.
"Students have had adequate warning and there will be no exceptions unless there is snow!"
