Dog owners are being asked to keep their pets away from frozen ponds and lakes as another cold snap approaches.
With temperatures likely to plummet below freezing again this weekend Warwickshire Fire and Rescue service is making the plea to protect animals and their owners.
During the last spell of wintry weather fire crews were called out five times to rescue animals stranded on frozen water.
Council spokesman Richard Hobbs said: “Often ice that looks thick can be easily broken and it only takes a second for someone to fall through.”
