"We are delighted with the signing of Ben, a real crowd pleaser," said Brummies boss Graham Drury.

"He will delight our supporters there is no doubt about that."

Barker will share a spot at Perry Barr with Rene Bach and will also ride for Plymouth in the Premier League during the new season.

Drury is confident the Brummies fans will like what they see when Barker rides.

"He never knows when he is beaten," Drury said.

"Even if he is at the back in the early stages of a race he will remain totally committed for the full four laps and he is a good signing for us."

Barker will appear for the Brummies for the first time at Telford in an event that features a meeting between England and the Rest of the World.

The Brummies begin their Elite League campaign against Wolverhampton on Monday, 21 March in the BBC WM Trophy.
