Fashionable Coventry bar Dogma has closed and all staff made redundant.

Shocked workers were told on Monday that the company which runs the Dogma chain, Ever So Sensible Bars, was pulling out of the premises, in Priory Place.

The decision is a huge blow to other businesses at the prime city centre location and comes after the closure of adjoining Number Three Bar last year.

Dogma opened in 2004 as the centrepiece of a new bar and restaurant quarter under the Phoenix Initiative regeneration scheme.

Ever So Sensible Bars was unavailable for comment on the closure.

A sign has been put up at the premises, off Fairfax Street, saying: “This Dogma is now closed. Please visit Dogma when you visit Reading, Nottingham or Lincoln.”
