An Afghan man has been found guilty of abducting, raping and taking an indecent video of a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton. A jury at Warwick Crown Court has this afternoon (February 10) found Ahmad Mulakhil, aged 23, guilty of one count of rape, one count of abduction and one count of taking indecent images of the girl in Cheverel Street last year.

The jury of seven men and five women found he was guilty of two counts of sexual assault of a child on July 22, 2025. But they said he was not guilty on another count of rape. Mulakhil had already admitted one count of rape.

Co-defendant Mohammad Kabir, 24, was found not guilty of all charges which included intentional strangulation, committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence and attempting to take a child.

The jury had spent seven hours and 39 minutes deliberating their verdicts following the trial at the crown court, which started on Thursday, February 5.

Her Honour Judge Kristina Montgomery, KC said that Kabir could be discharged into the care of the escort service 'to wherever it is that he is next to be held or reside, I know not which or ask not which'.

In relation to Mulkahil, the Judge said: "He will plainly receive a substantial custodial sentence, which will make him automatically liable for deportation as its conclusion."

His sentencing is due to take place in March.

A brutal rapist jailed for 15 years for attacking a girl of 12 in Nuneaton knew full well she was just a child, a judge told him as he was sent to prison.

Judge Kristina Montgomery KC sentenced Ahmad Mulakhil to 15 years with a further 12 months on licence today, Friday, March 27.

It came after he was found guilty of two counts of rape of a child, one count of child abduction, one of taking an indecent image of a child, and two counts of sexual assault. He had already admitted another count of rape.

Judge Montgomery said the 23-year-old had 'targeted' the girl after initially meeting her at Marlborough Road recreation ground on July 22 last year.

"Your victim had only just turned 12," the judge said. "She has been described as extremely vulnerable. During the course of these proceedings, she was assessed by a registered intermediary as having significant vulnerabilities in her communication, comprehension and emotional resilience."

The judge said a victim personal statement sent to the court explained the impact of the attack on her. "It has been profound and lasting," the judge said.

"She continues to suffer from trauma responses and medical issues associated with your offending. She has anxiety and experiences flashbacks."

The judge spoke about how, after meeting in the park, the pair met again in Deacon Street later on the evening of July 22. "Footage from a security camera caught an exchange between you in which you asked your victim to tell you her age. She said she was 19, which was an obvious lie.

"Your reaction was incredulous and the jury's verdict leaves no doubt you knew she was aged under 16. You led your victim into a cul-de-sac in a residential area. A secluded area out of public view

"You and she spent over an hour together and during that time you sexually assaulted her."

Following the attack, they walked to Edward Street, went to a shop and then to Riversley Park. The judge went on: "When you left her, she was alone in a park, in the darkness for some time for some time.

"She was distressed, she was hyper-vigilant, looking over her shoulder and into the woodland to see whether you were still in the area.

"There is no dispute your culpability is at the highest level, you had targeted your victim having met with her earlier in the evening and recorded an indecent image of her in the course of your sexual assault upon her."

Speaking about 'aggravating factors," the judge said: "She (the victim) reported to the police that you had made threats designed to dissuade her from reporting your offending against her."

The judge also ruled Mulakhil be served a restraining order not to contact his victim. He was also given a sexual harm prevention order.

"This will effectively seek to reduce the risk to women and girls by restricting your access to areas where vulnerable individuals may be present, whether those be private or public places," the judge said, adding there would also be a police requirement order.

The judge added: "Whether those orders are necessary to protect women and girls in the United Kingdom will be determined upon your release or at a stage in the sentence that I will pass at which you may be deported.

"The sentence of the court will be of such duration that it renders you automatically liable for deportation."
