Hello CSB
I found one listing in my old book which I think was published in 1874 (as that is the latest date that I could find in it and the cover is missing) was that the landlord at that time was George Yardley.

That is all the info that I can find apart from the door number of the Turks Head which was 29. sorry I can't be more help.

The reason I would like some info is my Great Granfather was the landlord around 1860.

Once again Dutchman Thanks.

Does this mean anything to you?

EDIT: May be a duplicate of Elaine's info
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

As Midland Red's image was lost due to circumstances beyond his control, I've decided to post this more recent one:

I regret I'm unable at present to find any pictures of the pub with its original name.

Thanks Dutchman ...... I'm getting the idea that the original Turks Head could well have been a different building all together.... I know the area was hit heavily during the war....
Its funny but there seems to be hardly any photographs at all of Silver Street itself let alone the pub. From what I can make out from images of Bishop Street, Silver Street orignally seems to have been more like a very narrow passageway rather than a road. I'll keep searching!
