It covers the whole of the town centre, including up to the Asda store and also across to Riversley Park
A 48 hour long police dispersal order has been thrown around Nuneaton town centre. It comes after what Nuneaton and Bedworth Police say have been incidents of anti‑social behaviour in the area tonight (February 19) and over recent weeks.
There have been no details released about these incidents but the order covers the whole of the town centre, including up to the Asda store and also across to Riversley Park.
Having the order in place gives police extra powers and means they can tell individuals to leave if they are 'causing or are likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress'.
Anyone who fails to comply to the order could face arrest. The local police team explained: "The action is being taken to protect the community and ensure the town centre remains a safe place to live, work and visit.
"If you witness anti‑social behaviour, please report it via 101 or online. In an emergency, always call 999."
The dispersal order will remain in place until 6.29pm on Saturday (February 21).
It is not the first time police have used the powers with similar dispersal orders in place.
