Coventry City Council is cracking down on fly-tipping and 'inconsiderate' pavement parking. Concerns have been raised by a number of residents in Radford.

Several measures are being introduced in Jubilee Crescent and Owenford Road. Works include creating new parking bays, carrying out an extensive declutter of fly-tipping hotspots, and removing and relocating garbage bins.

Plans also include upgrading pedestrian crossings and streetlights, resurfacing sections of footpaths and carriageways, installing new bollards, and creating green spaces and sustainable rain gardens. All planned improvements are expected to be completed by June.

Cllr Patricia Hetherton, Cabinet Member for City Services, said: “We have been listening to residents and businesses, and we are committed to keeping the streets clean, free of clutter and accessible.

“Plans for Jubilee Crescent and Owenford Road will provide much-needed new parking, some really clever drainage, which will also inject some greenery, and a safer environment for pedestrians and drivers. It is just one of many citywide initiatives to act on this type of antisocial behaviour, and with work starting on Monday, I hope people will see and feel the impact really quickly.”

A spokesman for Coventry City Council said: “If you have a fly-tipping concern or would like to report an incident, we have a variety of ways to help. To report fly-tipping or learn about the way we address it, you can visit https://www.coventry.gov.uk/street-scene/flytipping.

“If you have excess household waste and are not sure where to take it, we provide a bulky waste collection for larger and/or bulky items for a small charge. To find out more about it, you can visit https://www.coventry.gov.uk/bulkywaste.”
