Nuneaton Town have dismissed reports that striker Chris Dillon has left the club and insist he is staying.
Chairman Ian Neale blames "confusion with a club official" for the story which suggested Dillon was being allowed to go to save money.
Dillon scored in the play-off final win last season which propelled the Borough into Blue Square Bet North.
The club now plans to start discussions over Dillon's future and in the meantime he will stay at Liberty Way.
Neale said: "The aim of our talks is to iron out the player's future and how that sits with the club, but I can confirm that Chris is a Nuneaton Town player and will be available for selection whilst we carry out negotiations."
