Five unanswered goals in the second period helped Coventry Blaze to a 6-3 Elite League victory over Newcastle Vipers at the Skydome on Sunday.
Venus (centre) is congratulated after scoring his first competitive goalLuke Fulghum gave Blaze the lead on 63 seconds but the home side had to wait to put the game beyond Vipers.
Teenager Ross Venus scored his first for the club with Owen Fussey, Greg Owen (2) and Dan Carlson also netting.
Vipers rallied in the third, with efforts by Mike Prpich, Dale Mahovsky and Dean Holland, but Coventry held on.
The win ensured Blaze enjoyed back-to-back victories over the weekend after beating Hull Stingrays 2-0 away from home in Saturday's Challenge Cup clash.
Effectively a dead rubber, Coventry won the game thanks to first-period strikes from Aaron Nell and Fulghum.
