A large HMO could be built above a Post Office branch in Nuneaton. Signs have appeared around the Higham Lane area about the proposals.

They detail the plan for extensions and the partial change of use for 212 Higham Lane - which is Higham Lane Food and Wine - which includes Post Office. This is to create a first and second floor self-contained 15-bedroom House of Multiple Occupation (HMO).

It would also see new vehicular access, additional parking, and retrospective permission for an outbuilding at the back. The new access would be off St Nicholas Park Drive.

According to the planning application, the former rear garden area will be used for creating parking spaces and access using a porous surfacing. The proposed HMO would be 15 one bedroom flats, for 15 people.

The proposal explains the building's future plans, saying: "Proposed extension and conversion of an existing shop with upper floor flats to HMO. Accommodation to the first and new second floor and retail on the ground floor.

"New car park and service space and forming a new vehicular access off St Nicholas Park Drive."

The plan is now being looked at by officers at the Town Hall. People can look at all of the documents by visiting the council's website and searching in the planning applications section for reference number 040698.

The target decision date for the application is March 11.
