The Santa Dash 5k run was held at Victoria Park in Leamington Spa
The Myton Hospice has 'record-breaking success' at this year's Santa Dash to help support their vital work for people with life-limiting illnesses. Over 1,000 participants dressed as Santas and Elves to Victoria Park in Leamington Spa as they completed the 5k route.
This year's Santa Dash was postponed by a week due to Storm Darragh, but didn't impact the amount of funds raised with £57,021.72, with funds going directly towards providing essential care for Myton's patients and their families. The event also featured Mini Dash, where little Santas enjoyed receiving their meals, as well as the crowd-favourite Best Dressed Dog Competition. The furry friends in festive costumes delighted attendees.
The day included several volunteers and marshals who guided participants along the route from photographs Con and Viv, The Royal Brass Band with their festive performances and MC Andrew and Lea from ZwithLea Zumba who energised the crowd with a warm-up session.
Events and Campaigns Manager at The Myton Hospice, Natalie Walker, said: "Thank you to everyone who joined us for our record-breaking Santa Dash to celebrate the festive season and support your local hospice. The amount raised could fund our Warwick Myton Inpatient Unit for a week this Christmas. You are all stars, and we think you belong on top of the Christmas tree."
Special thanks were also given to the Kenilworth Rotary Club and Rugby Round Table for arranging Santa and his sleigh, Warwick District Council for their ongoing support, and Mayor Cllr Judith Clarke, whose presence added to the occasion's significance.
"The Myton Hospices would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this year’s Santa Dash, from participants and volunteers to sponsors and supporters," she added.
