I don't remember the XJ6 immediate predecessor at all, the smaller-bodied 420 (without the "G"), despite it being the biggest selling Jaguar model of the 1966-68 period!
I DO remember the Daimler Sovereign variant, shown on the right, which remained in production a year longer.
Jaguar's model line-up was a real mess at the time.

To be fair, the BL (or whatever it was called at the time) range was a complete mess with its own vehicles competing against each other in similar market segments. Sadly, lessons weren't learned and JLR was until recently competing with itself in the same market segments.
Jaguar as a company has rarely turned a profit since it was sold off, and for many years prior to that relied heavily on the support of other companies in its parent group.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
