More than 1,000 homes and businesses in Nuneaton have been hit by power cuts. Large parts of the Abbey Green area and in the town centre have been impacted this afternoon (September 2).

That is according to a live National Grid map, which shows that currently, 1,073 properties in the area are 'without supply'. On the website, it states that the issue was first reported at 3.14pm.

"There is a fault on our high voltage network in your area which we are working hard to resolve," the website states. It adds that engineers have been sent to the scene.

It is understood that the estimated restoration time is 5pm although locals are being urged to check the website for updates. It can be found here

News about the power cut comes after homes in the Whitestone area were, this morning, left without water. Severn Trent confirmed that a burst water pipe on Whitestone Road earlier this morning had left some properties without water while others were experiencing low pressure.
