Five people have been taken to hospital, two by air ambulance after a two vehicle crash in Warwickshire.
The crash happened at about 4.55pm on a twisty section of Welsh Road near Cubbington, Leamington.
Four ambulances, the Midlands Air Ambulances from Strensham and Staffordshire, the doctor from the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and two paramedic officers were sent to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “When crews arrived, they found two cars with very substantial front end damage.
“There were three people in the first car; a father and his two young children. The father had suffered leg arm and shoulder injuries. He was immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board and was taken on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire (UHCW) by land ambulance.
“His three year old son had suspected internal injuries and was airlifted to the same hospital. His other son who was about 18 months old had facial injuries and was taken on blue lights to UHCW by land ambulance.
“There were a man and a woman in the other car. The woman driver was trapped for over half an hour. Ambulance staff and firefighters worked together to free her. She had suffered head and pelvic injuries as well as multiple limb fractures. She was airlifted to UHCW.
“The man in the front seat was suffering from abdominal pain and limb fractures. He was taken on blue lights to UHCW by land ambulance.
“Due to the number of patients, an incident support officer was sent to the hospital to help co-ordinate the flow of patients and assist the crews.
“This was a complex incident that required excellent levels of cooperation between all three emergency services to ensure that all five patients got to hospital as quickly as possible.”
