A large car dealership has closed down in Coventry. Sytner Jaguar has relocated from Earl Place Business Park to Sytner Jaguar Northampton.

CoventryLive understands that the closure was sparked by the 'expiration of the lease for the existing premises' on Fletchamstead Highway. Jaguar said its new car sales operation will be predominantly based in Northampton.

Sytner has transferred employees and a number of vehicles to Sytner Land Rover on Birmingham Road in Allesley. A company spokesman said this will 'ensure that dedicated services continue locally.'

A spokesman for Jaguar Land Rover said: “Due to the expiration of the lease on its existing premises, Sytner Jaguar Coventry made the decision to relocate its new car sales operation to the Sytner Jaguar Land Rover Northampton site on October 6. We fully support this decision as it provides a new opportunity to elevate our clients' purchase experience.

“In parallel, Sytner has transferred sales, service and associated staff to its nearby Sytner Land Rover Coventry site to ensure dedicated services continue locally. We are wholeheartedly committed to the continued support of Sytner Jaguar Coventry clients and are working with Sytner to ensure the transition is as comfortable and convenient as possible for all.”

Methinks there's more to it than that since they clearly invested a lot of their own money in the site?

Listers Škoda set to open on Fletchamstead Highway in Coventry

A brand-new car dealership will soon be opening in Coventry. Listers Škoda will be relocating to Fletchamstead Highway.

Paul Fox, Head of Business at Listers Škoda, said the dealership will be moving from Coventry Road in Exhall. It will be closing to the public in the coming months, it is understood.

Listers Škoda will be opening on Fletchamstead Highway early this year, although an exact date has not yet been confirmed. A sign on the fencing reads: 'Listers Škoda. Coming Soon.'

Works to transform the building are currently taking place on Fletchamstead Highway. Bosses say the new site will be both 'spacious and modern.'

It comes after the closure of Sytner Jaguar in October 2023, which shut down following the 'expiration of the lease for the existing premises.' Jaguar said they will now be predominantly based in Northampton.

Mr Fox said: “After 12 successful years of trading with Listers Škoda in Coventry, we are pleased to announce we are relocating into the iconic Jaguar building on Fletchamstead Highway in Coventry. Our new showroom will be a spacious, modern concept, designed to elevate your Škoda experience to the next level, as well as raising the profile of Škoda in this amazing city.

“Building plans at the new location are well underway, but for now, it is business as usual at our current location and we are still on hand to help with your sales and service requirements.”
