Woman in her 70s breaks arm in bus attack as CCTV image released

A woman in her 70s suffered a broken arm when she and her husband were attacked on a bus. She and her husband were pushed to the floor during the incident on a number 1 bus service from The Parade in Leamington to Spinney Hill in Warwick.

Warwickshire Police said the couple are understood to have been involved in a verbal altercation with another man after he coughed towards them. When the bus stopped, both the man and woman were pushed to the floor by the suspect.

The man, aged in his 60s, suffered a cut to his arm while the woman, who is aged in her 70s, suffered a broken arm and a minor head injury. Police are investigating the incident which happened at around 2pm on September 18.

As part of this, they have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to. A Warwickshire Police spokesman said: "Enquiries are ongoing and we’re keen to speak to the man as we believe he could have information about the assault.

"If you are the man, or you recognise him, please get in touch with us or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting incident 216 of 18 September."
