Every road closure in Coventry this week as major resurfacing works start

Heads up for those heading out and about



Major road resurfacing and pothole repair works are set to take place across the city this week. Motorists are being warned that this will lead to some road closures and they may want to plan their journeys ahead to avoid any hold-ups.

Today (Monday, August 21) road resurfacing starts on The Butts/Spon End. This means there will be a road closure in place and this will run until September 1. It will be closed from 9pm until 5am every day.

Later this week another major road resurfacing will get underway on Rochester Road. There will be a road closure in place from Thursday (August 24) until September 4. The closure is between 7.30am and 4pm daily.

Looking ahead to next week, on August 30 Tile Hill Lane will also undergo road resurfacing. It will run between August 30 and September 15, from 7pm until 5am and 7.30am until 4pm.

Multi-way signals will be in place on Heathcote Street from today (August 21) until November 11 for footway resurfacing works. They will be in operation from 7.30am until 4pm.

Also, from today (August 21) to September 8, there will be two-way lights on Hollyfast Road. They will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm. Pothole repair works will see St Margarets Road closed today (August 21) from 8am until 4pm.

Tomorrow (August 22) there are planned pothole repair works on Lamburnum Road. The road will be closed from 8am until 4pm. On Wednesday (August 23) similar works will take place on Duke Street and it too will be closed from from 8am until 4pm.

The pothole repair works continue on Lilac Avenue on Thursday (August 24). The road will be closed from 8am until 4pm. Then, on Friday (August 25) more pothole repairs will be made - this time on Sadler Road. The same road closure, between 8am until 4pm, will be in place.

I'll believe it when I see it as previous road-closure announcements have been somewhat misleading.

Thee days passed and still no sign of any road closures in Spon End!

The chip shop owner tells me the pavement opposite was resurfaced but not the road and there were definitely no closures this week.

This morning lanes ARE closed while a machine that looks like a combine harvester tears up the road surface!

It's currently single-lane working in both directions.

Correction: One inbound lane (which is not visible from where I am) is coned-off awaiting resurfacing. Buses are refusing to stop as a result, to the annoyance of waiting passengers.

The former bus-lane has now reopened and is operating normally. Sadly, the bus shelter was vandalised during the night.
