Police and firefighters raced to the scene of a hit and run close to pub in Coventry. Fortunately no one was injured following the incident in Albany Road.

They responded to 999 calls to report that a black car had crashed into a wall opposite the Albany pub in Earlsdon. But the driver fled the scene, leaving the damaged vehicle.

Fire crews pulled the vehicle away from the wall and made the area safe. A spokesman for West Midlands Police said officers on the scene arranged for it to be recovered.

Now investigations are ongoing to trace the driver. Anyone with any information should call the independent charity Crimestoppers, which is free to call from a landline and confidential, on 0800 555 111.
