The mystery surrounding the future of popular Coventry Tiki bar, Samoan Joes has been solved in an exclusive interview with Director, John Barrett and General Manager, Rob Hall regarding the relocation.

The venue have been teasing locals for the past couple of weeks with various social media posts on where and what the new venue might be, with one post rumouring that they will take over the vacant IKEA building on Croft Road.

However, CoventryLive can exclusively reveal that Samoan Joes will be moving to the former FOMO restaurant site at Skydome. The Spon Street venue will close on Saturday June 24 and re-open at the new premises on Friday June 30 with a launch party.

CoventryLive have also been told the launch night will be "full of surprises" and also revealed the former Spon Street site will be revamped as a 'totally new concept' over the summer.

"When the City of Culture came to Coventry, we tried to do something new, big and unique, but it didn't work. Samoan Joes has simply outgrown itself in times where people are struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis, but the venue itself continues to grow," John said.

When asked about the new move, Rob said: "Samoan Joes has become a real staple of Coventry, and in a day where companies like JJ's and Cargo can no longer keep their doors open, we are continually looking to adapt and grow."

The new venue is expected to be a lot bigger, with better facilities, drinks selections, more seating and more toilets, with bigger and better events to come.

"We've taken on board feedback from a recent social media post on what locals want, and we will be looking to implement as many of these as possible to give the people what they ask for."

They said the response on social media has been an 'absolute madness' and added: "The amount of people that say 'no comment' daily and ask if we are moving to Ikea shows so far how much the anticipation has been a success."

Samoan Joes also decided to invite staff who worked at former nightclub JJ's which closed on June 3 for 'one big night out'. They are also hoping to do a recruitment drive which will be announced soon.

"Times are hard and the post was to give them all one night out together before they decide on their futures. We have grown as a business, so we will have opportunities for them if they wish to take it, but the aim was to show solidarity in difficult times."

In terms of what Samoan Joes brings that other bars in Coventry don't, Rob and John said: "unique tiki glassware, tiki shirts, hula skirts and endless photo opportunities with one big party."

"The venue is open to everyone of all walks of life, and our goal is to create a night out people can be proud of. We are continuing to grow and we want to adapt our venue to give people the best night out they've had on every visit. We want to give the city a venue to be proud of something to show off through a cheeky Instagram post or visiting us with friends and family."

The clown who wrote this clearly has no idea what was previously there in this so-called 'conservation area'. :fuming:
