Six cars have been broken into and set alight in Warwickshire.
Fire crews were called to Malvern Avenue in Nuneaton during the early hours and alerted police after finding four cars alight.
A further car was reported alight in Norfolk Crescent a short time later and another car was reported as fire-damaged when the owner later found it.
Police are looking for anyone who saw anything suspicious in those areas between 0030 BST and 0200 BST.
Witnesses have reported seeing a man acting suspiciously in Webb Street at about 0100 BST. The man, wearing a hoodie with a distinctive cross design, walked off towards Westbury Road.
Shortly after 0300 BST police received a report of two men breaking into a car in Westbury Road.
Det Insp Kate Tomkinson, of Warwickshire Police, said she did not know if there was a link between the fires and the two men in Westbury Road but they would like to trace them.
