Armed police swarm Coventry street after man shot

A police investigation has been launched after a man was shot in Coventry in the early hours of the morning. The shooting happened at around 1.45am yesterday (Thursday April 7) in Terry Road, off Humber Road.

Police have not confirmed them but local reports were that the weapon used was a sawn-off shotgun. The man, aged in his 30s, was shot in the foot.

He was not seriously injured. The incident saw a large police presence in the area, including armed response officers.

Detectives investigating the shooting have appealed for any witnesses, or anyone with information, to come forward.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We’re investigating after a man was shot in the foot on Terry Road, Coventry, at around 1.45am on Thursday (April 7). The man, aged in his 30s, was not seriously injured.

“We’re reviewing all CCTV in the area and anyone with information can contact us via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101, and quote 20/362631/22.”

One local resident told CoventryLive there was a large police presence following the shooting. “Armed police were everywhere,” they said. “

"A man was shot in his foot with a sawn-off shotgun. He was rushed to hospital but luckily it wasn’t serious.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 1.38am on Thursday to reports of an incident on Terry Road in Coventry. One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

"Shortly after our arrival, we were stood down as our assistance was no longer required.”
