Five held after street fighting in Leamington Spa

Five people have been arrested after a fight which left a police officer needing hospital treatment.



Police were called to reports of a fight near the Duke pub in Warwick Street, Leamington Spa.

The male officer and another man were taken to hospital.

Two men aged 22, two others aged 23 and 20, and a woman, 21 were held on suspicion of affray. One of the 22-year-olds was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an officer.

Police were called to the pub shortly after midnight.

The injured officer returned to work after treatment.

The other man who was taken to hospital was being treated for chest pain.

The Warwickshire force said it was viewing CCTV footage and believes there were a number of witnesses present.
