Forty patients were taken from Coventry's University Hospital after a small fire broke out in a nearby building.

Nine fire engines attended the scene after the call out on Friday afternoon.
Three wards were evacuated as a precaution while the fire on a roof of a two-storey plant room next door to the hospital was extinguished.
The fire service said the blaze was dealt with quickly.

A fire in a hospital is everyone's nightmare.
Glad to see nobody hurt and the usual swift response from the fire brigade. I wonder if anyone has thought about hospitals and the like with the brigade "slimming" that's being talked about?

It could have been far more serious - thankfully no-one was hurt. Thank heavens for the emergency services - and if they are 'slimmed down' they'll be expected to still give the same service.
