A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a woman was found at a flat in Leamington.

The discovery was made after police were called to a property in Leicester Court on Friday morning (August 6).

A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, Warwickshire Police has revealed.

A spokesman for the force said: "A 45-year-old man from Leamington has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a woman in her 50s was discovered at a flat in Leicester Court, Leamington, on Friday, August 6.

"At this time, police believe the incident was contained to the property and there was no risk to the wider public.

"Police were called to the property by paramedics at 7.22am.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained."

The 45-year-old man has since been bailed until a date in October.
