Free WiFi remains turned off on the majority of local bus routes in Warwickshire but bosses say the decision is constantly under review.

Bus users on some Stagecoach services have noticed that they cannot access free WiFi on board.

A decision was taken last year to turn off the free service and it remains in place.

But a Stagecoach spokesperson said that it is constantly under review and could be changed in the future.

“In October last year we reviewed all aspects of our operation as we continued through the Covid-19 pandemic. Our primary focus then and now is to ensure that we continue to run the safe and reliable services our customers need," the spokesperson said.

"The average bus journey is just 16 minutes and our review showed that the vast majority of passengers were not using the bus WiFi during these short journeys. In addition, most customers are using bus services to travel to work, college, university and retail/leisure facilities where WiFi will normally be readily available.

"For these reasons, we made the decision to turn off the WiFi on the majority of local bus services on a temporary basis. We will continue to review all aspects of our service in line with customer feedback and future developments."

Free WiFi does remain in place on some Stagecoach services across the country.
