There have been a flurry of posts about drug use and criminal activity in Nuneaton

Nuneaton town centre drugs concerns need to be made to police not Facebook, say officers.

Police have reacted to a number of posts made on social media about crime in the town centre and drugs activity.

Over the past week, there have been lots of complaints made about the town centre.

But police say they need to be reported to them - not on social media - so they can take action.

A post on the Nuneaton and Bedworth Police page on Facebook has reacted to the recent complaints.

"The Nuneaton Central Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) which incorporates the town centre itself are aware of social media posts in recent days on community forums raising concerns/issues within the town centre itself," the post read.

"If we can ask that if you witness criminal activity or anti-social behaviour in the town that you notify us, even more so if you are willing to provide a statement in relation to what you have witnessed."

It asks people to use everything from social media to phone calls to make such reports.

This can be done via 999 if a crime is in progress or 101.

People can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers, which is free to call from a landline and confidential, on 0800 555 111 to pass on information.

This can also be done via the police website here.

Perhaps if the police visited the town centre occasionally instead of sitting on their arses at home all day reading Facebook and Twitter they might actually witness the crimes themselves? Just a thought.

Spot on Dutchman.

I live on the border between WM and Warwickshire. There is a known drug problem, and one of my acquaintances reported some relevant intelligence to both police forces. Neither wanted to know!
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
