Police seized drugs, cash, and designer clothing from the suspects

Police have seized a huge stash of drugs with a street value of more than £20,000 following an early morning raid in Coventry.

West Midlands Police forced their way into a flat in Spon End after receiving information from members of the local community who linked the property to drugs.

It is also suspected that the supply chain targets county lines, in an attempt to avoid being caught, and grooms vulnerable children to sell drugs on the streets.

During the raid officers found several large bags of dried cannabis bud, a bag of cutting agent, dealer bags, digital scales and around £1,000 in cash.

A selection of designer clothing, including Gucci trousers and high-end trainers worth hundreds of pounds were also seized as officers suspect that they were purchased using drugs money.

A 27-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply.

Coventry Police Detective Chief Inspector Paul Southern, said: “We prioritise targeting drug dealers as we know their activity is the cause of much of the violence experienced in our communities.

“Police intelligence suggests these offenders are using children to deal at a street level in Coventry and neighbouring towns. Anyone who exploits vulnerable children to commit crime will be relentlessly pursued.

“Today’s effort is a clear demonstration we are listening to community concerns and acting on what they’re telling us. We always take information from the public seriously so if anyone has suspicions that a property is linked to crime, please tell us so we can take action.”

I'm calling bullshit on this article.

I live in Spon End and have seen no evidence of any such police raid or any such drug dealing as described in the article.

Wherabouts in Spon End? What are the names and addresses of the people arrested? My guess is they don't exist and there will be no court case.

This is just another of those generic "people shouldn't do illegal things' posts that routinely appear on Twitter and we never hear about again.

Ooh, you old cynic!

You're right though, we do get rather a lot of propaganda 'news'.

My guess is it's a knee-jerk reaction to the headline that they had yet to make an arrest in another case so they fabricated a story to suggest otherwise.

Police update after £20,000 Coventry drug raid

Police have released two people arrested after £20,000 worth of drugs was found in a raid in Coventry.

West Midlands Police forced their way into a flat in Spon End in the early morning raid, which came after a tip-off from members of the local community who linked the property to drugs.

The arrested pair, a 27-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, were taken in to custody on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply, but they have now been released under investigation.

Like I said, bullshit story.

No names, no address, no charges.

Lazy policing, lazy journalism.

The locations in Spon End where drug dealing takes place are well known to local residents who have asked for police action over many years. Of course, nothing has been done and police are rarely seen around Spon End. CT has published a lot of news articles recently reporting apparent police raids on cannabis farms or drug factories around the city centre. So may raids in such a short time? I'm sure raids did happen but the whole thing strikes me as a publicity stunt.
