Police believe it to be a domestic incident

A murder investigation has been launched in Coventry after a young man died following a stabbing last night (June 1).

Police were called to reports of an injured man taken to hospital yesterday evening at around 10.10pm.

However, despite best efforts from medical staff, the 18-year-old sadly died.

He is thought to have been stabbed shortly before on Middle Ride in the Willenhall area of the city.

An 18-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder not long after and is currently in custody.

West Midlands Police say the incident is thought to be domestic related and they are not looking for anyone else at this stage.

Detective Inspector Hannah Whitehouse, from the homicide team, said: “This is a tragic loss of a young man’s life.

“An investigation is underway and a forensic examination of the scene is currently taking place as we try to establish what happened.

“I’d urge anyone with any information to contact us as soon as they can.”

If you have any information please contact West Midlands Police by calling 101, quoting log number 5026 of 1 June.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

An 18-year-old man died in hospital after being found injured in Middle Ride, Willenhall, at around 10.10pm on Monday night (June 1).

Police have now named the man as Kieran Brown and his family have paid tribute to a "kind, loving, gentle person".

A post-mortem examination took place this morning (June 3) and concluded that Kieran died from a fatal stab wound.

Ellie Wain, 18, from London Road, Coventry, was today (June 3) charged with murder and she is due to appear at Coventry Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning (June 4).

Police appeal to trace car

Police are appealing for information to help trace a car seen in the same area as a fatal stabbing in Coventry.

West Midlands Police says the car was seen travelling on Middle Ride, Willenhall, "at exactly the time" 18-year-old Kieran Brown was attacked on 1 June. He later died in hospital.

A post-mortem examination concluded he died from a stab wound.

Det Insp Adam Jobson, said the person or people in the car "could hold vital information".

"They are not in any trouble, we just need to understand what they may have seen," Mr Jobson added.

Officers said the car was seen at 21:56 BST on Monday, the time Mr Brown was attacked.

Despite being an unclear photo, the force said it hoped the driver would recognise their car and be able to provide useful information on the attack.

There were also two other cars "which may have stopped" or "could have seen what happened" the force added, urging anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch and "do the right thing".

Ellie Wain murdered Kieran Brown in Willenhall stabbing

A woman who stabbed her boyfriend to death in a drugs and booze-fuelled row has been jailed for life.

Ellie Wain, 18, knifed Kieran Brown in the chest outside the home they shared in Willenhall, Coventry, in June.

Mr Brown, also 18, died from an injury to his heart sustained when Wain struck him with a "fearsome" kitchen knife.

At Coventry Crown Court, Wain was jailed for a minimum of 17 years after being found guilty of murder on Monday.

The court heard Wain, of Middle Ride in Willenhall, had told a witness she had a knife because she was going to stab anyone that came near her.

"It's a chilling insight into what was in your mind," Judge Andrew Lockhart, sentencing, said.

The jury rejected Wain's claims that Mr Brown had been violent towards her and that she had acted in self-defence.

In reality, Judge Lockhart said, she had acted in rage and anger, and had since told lies to psychiatrists.

The 18-year-old, who has a history of anxiety and depression, had been smoking cannabis and drinking when she demanded Mr Brown leave their home on 1 June after a row, then set upon him in the street.

He was taken to hospital by a relative but died shortly after at about 22:10 BST.

His family said a "kind and loving" son's life had been "cut short by the cruel actions of Ellie Wain in a fit of temper because things weren't going her way".

The statement continued: "A huge hole has been left where Kieran should be."
